Software for prediction of mechanical properties of special profiles and rails after accelerated cooling


The software QTSteel can be modified according to the user’s wish in order to simulate the process of accelerated cooling or heat treatment of bodies of more complicated shapes as for example special steel profiles or rails Basic functionality of such programs, it means the calculation of temperature and final mechanical properties and the user interface are the same as in the QTSteel, only the list of standard bodies is expanded to the required special bodies and the FEM thermal model is modified appropriately.

As an example of the software which was developed according to customer requirements the following two special programs are presented:

Program THCool

This program enables to calculate cooling curves and final mechanical properties of mining reinforcement profiles after accelerated cooling from the exit rolling temperature with the air blowing from the fans on the cooling bed.

The Graphic User Interface of the THCool software and results of prediction of mechanical properties of special TH profile

Program QTSteel / Rail

This program enables to calculate cooling curves and final mechanical properties of requested type of rail after its accelerated cooling (air, water, polymer) from the exit rolling temperature.
